I just went back on my SlideShare account, and I had had a LOT of views. Considering that those two PowerPoints have only been on there a week, together they have had 270 views!!!
The PowerPoint that Kris the architect showed us has now got around 193 views, and the one about the traits of a successful learner has 77!!!

Values

We are doing the DARE (Drugs & Alcohol Resistance Education) program in class at the moment, and today we learnt about bullying, but also the values that you will need in life.
The first one was Hard Work.
The second one was Knowledge.
And the third one was Attitude.
We started off by doing this strange activity.
You get all the letters of the alphabet, and you assign them a number, "A" is 1, "B" is 2, and so on:
A=1 B=2 C=3 D=4 E=5 F=6 G=7 H=8 I=9 J=10 K=11 L=12 M=13 N=14 O=15 P=16 Q=17 R=18 S=19 T=20 U=21 V=22 W=23 X=24 Y=25 Z=26
Next you spelt out the word on a bit of paper, and gave the letters their numbers.
For example: CAT= C (3), A (1), T (20), so the total sum of all the numbers is 24.
Now for the actual virtues:
H (8), A (1), R (18), D (4), W (23), O (15), R (18), K (11), total sum (98).
K (11), N (14), O (15), W (23), L (12), E (5), D (4), G (7), E (5), total sum (96).
A (1), T (20), T (20), I (9), T (20), U (21), D (4), E (5), total sum (100).

The overall message was that, although you need all these skills, knowledge will only get you 96 percent of the way through life, hard work 98 percent of the way, but attitude will get you 100 percent of the way through life! ! !

Successful Learner PPT

I was recently referred to a site called "SlideShare". This is what the SlideShare website says: "Upload and share your PowerPoint presentations and Word documents on SlideShare. Share publicly or privately. Add audio to make a webinar". I am enjoying using it and already have two uploads and gaining. You will notice a widget on the side of my blog showing all my SlideShare uploads. Anyway, back to business. Earlier in the year I wrote a post about the traits of a successful learner, and I mentioned that I didn't know how to upload the PowerPoint I made to Blogger, so this seemed like the perfect solution. Book Review ~ Payback

Here is a book review I wrote a while ago for something… Anyway, here it is:

Payback

Payback is written from the (rather short) view of a vertically challenged fourteen-year-old boy. Riley is your typical teenage midget, bully problems, worrying about his growth, and desperately trying to regain his girlfriend. This book is well-written by middle-aged novice author Michelle Kelly. She used her own teenagers as inspiration when writing Payback, and I found Riley’s personality much easier to relate to than other teenage story-book characters. The plot is great in the way it starts off simple, but grows more complicated as the book goes on, and pulls you into the story until you could almost imagine that you are being picked on by McGerk the jerk, and worrying about your height whilst hiding under your bed. I enjoyed this book, in particular all the ways that Michelle Kelly lures you into all the stunts and antics Payback has to offer. It was a really cool and gripping book leading up to a twist at the end, which was definitely one of the most thrilling and hilarious chapters of Payback. I would recommend this book for boys and girls (although boys might like it a bit better), of an age from nine to a light read for adults too.

Architecture throughout the ages

There has been numerous geniuses throughout time that have designed buildings and great structures. These are architects. There has been lots and lots of styles of buildings in time, from the pyramid structures of the Egyptians, Incans, Mayans, and the Aztecs (see first lot of pics) to the ionic-columned buildings of the Romans and Greeks (see second lot of pics).
